Amazing to me that some of the places that they are being sold is that a ridiculous amount of money. It's an effective way to get you out of your seat and moving, but you can adjust when the alerts happen or turn them off entirely.

No, it doesn’t have built-in GPS or heart-rate tracking, but if those things matter to you, you’re probably not the Fitbit Flex 2 demographic anyway. Its band is about a centimeter wide, and the width is more-or-less the same across the whole tracker. The Fitbit app is the same one used with other Fitbit devices, and it's one of our favorite fitness apps.No Built-in GPS: The Fitbit Charge 2 relies on connected GPS, meaning you need to carry your smartphone with you to track your outdoor activities accurately. With the brand's slimmest wristband yet, the Flex 2 is the perfect sporting accessory to track your activity without imposing on your lifestyle.

I haven’t found this a problem yet but my other half puts his Fitbit in his pocket when pushing the buggy just in case. Its tracking is accurate and the results are simply presented in Fitbit’s free app for iPhone and Android. It’s perfect for helping to motivate you towards your goals, whether you want to improve your running or walk longer distances. I’ve really enjoyed keeping an eye on how much exercise I’ve done and it has definitely inspired me to get out to up my step count. I love how at first glance it doesn’t look like a watch or a fitness tracker, it could just be another piece of jewellery. For some reason, they sell the product as ‘one size’ but include 2 sizes of wristbands within the box – which seems weirdly generous.

Still if you’ve got one of those already or – heaven forfend – don’t mind reaching for your phone instead, you can happily get by with the Flex 2. There are necklaces so you can wear it as a pendant and bracelets that are designed to be a piece of jewellery so no one will know you’re wearing a fitness tracker! The tracker is a 1-inch long gadget that slips easily in and out of the rubber wristband to be cleaned and charged, and it has a series of lights which are used to give you notifications and show battery life.No Display: Unlike some other Fitbit models, the Flex lacks a display, so you need to check your smartphone or computer for your fitness data. Accompanying power cord has a distinct odor from smoke which my retired firefighter is very sensitive to this.

Turning off the personalised advertising setting won’t stop you from seeing Etsy ads, but it may make the ads you see less relevant or more repetitive. The display of third-party trademarks and trade names on this site does not necessarily indicate any affiliation or the endorsement of PCMag. If you are trying to purchase a membership for another account, please sign in with that account before making a purchase. Its brain is a little nugget of plastic that fits into the rubber strap, and can be popped out to charge. PCMag is obsessed with culture and tech, offering smart, spirited coverage of the products and innovations that shape our connected lives and the digital trends that keep us talking.

Back to the rubbery one we actually have, the Fitbit Flex 2 uses the same style of button clasp as the old Flex. I do a Whole 30 and Paleo diet as it works best for my body, but you can't track that so the food feature is useless to me. Generally I take the accuracy with a pinch of salt, and don’t take it too seriously – remember, a step counter doesn’t register things like incline, and actually tracks less steps if you are running and burning more calories.
