La Picholine is a completely renovated barn with 2 ensuite bedrooms in the centre of the quiet village of Mollégès in the Alpilles. I think what shines through is that she is one of those rare people who can entirely uproot a life, leave behind the corporate dream and still make a tremendous success professionally as well as in creating a peaceful lifestyle. For the next few years, Marsh and her husband visited the house on weekends, beginning the monumental task of making it livable. Love the stories woven with french expressions and the french etiquette lessons in the last chapter.

Most purchases from business sellers are protected by the Consumer Contract Regulations 2013 which give you the right to cancel the purchase within 14 days after the day you receive the item. Easily drawn into Marsh's entertaining narrative by her sharp observations and warm-hearted nature, we get to know her neighbours, the local traditions and her growing family of dogs, cats, and assorted feathered friends. She was fascinated by my story, about giving up corporate life for love, living in the country with more than 60 animals, and starting a blog. My husband I lived in Brittany, but I’m now stuck with the job of closing down legal and financial ties there.

Though there is a family tragedy detailed in the book, for the most part the book has a light, humorous tone as the author with a bemused air described the colorful characters in life (human and animal) and the strange things she had to come to get used to, whether it is the French love of making speeches or just how cold northern France can get in winter or the local love of mushroom gathering. Nowadays, though I don’t consider myself fluent, French people say “wow your accent is great” – because I listened to real people talking and it’s influenced my learning. If you’ve ever dreamed of discovering “the real France,” you won’t want to miss this delightful book. This book is also different from a lot of other ex-Brits in France stories, because the house is up in the north of France.

And then we'll share some of the incredible facts about this towering icon, how she was almost sent to Montreal in Canada all 2. She is known as “flop chef not top chef” to her French friends (Madame Merde behind her back – and that’s a long story that’s in her book My Good Life in France!Well, the author Janine Marsh certainly did just that on a wet and windy February cross channel day out with her husband Mark, and Dad. How many of us have dreamed about having a second home in another country to escape the hustle and bustle of urban reality and enjoy the sweet life in a country setting? What advice might you offer to someone (or a couple) considering an expat move and career transition? We don’t share your credit card details with third-party sellers, and we don’t sell your information to others. From her early struggles and homesickness through personal tragedy, to her attempts to become self-sufficient and to breed 'the fattest chickens in the village', Janine learned that there was more to her new home than she could ever have imagined.
