Description

I chose moisture resistant just in case I ever spill any liquids on the table top, as I wouldn't want the wood to swell if it gets wet. This top can be used with our aluminum workbench frame , and it's easy to assemble - just place together!

There were a bunch of people getting sheets of OSB and taking up space in the aisle, so I just kinda surfed on by. For me I would like to use the trim router and the Parf system, so no drill but instead a hole that would take a 30mm bush and now another level of hole drilling would be possible, no issues with tilting the drill as the router is all plunge.

Used to hold standard prepared timber on its edge, these platform saddles make for a fast and flexible method of creating a sacrificial work standoff. Then I could cut it to length and I made my jig 800mm in length which is the same measurement as the width of my table top, and that's important. I'm mounting it to steel Rockler Rock Steady stands, so those will do a good job flattening it out once I anchor it down. Then I could work my way down the top, row by row, using my awl to locate the jig in the first hole.

Finally I want to talk briefly about the MFT accessories that I plan to use going forward, and here they are - all of these came from BenchDogs. So remove the dogs and reinsert the dogs 100 times into that CNC machined MFT you had made and the apply pressure from different directions to the dog holes and then simply measure the pattern and you will find out that your perfect MFT is less than perfect. By profession I'm a computer engineer, but by passion I'm a designer and maker of handcrafted objects. Peter is one of those people who is confident in what he does but what he designs and what he says makes perfect sense. This isn't an ad or anything, I bought them with my own money, but I've just been impressed with them so thought it worth mentioning.Next I could drill the holes to their full size and I'm going to be using 20mm auger bit to drill the holes, because that's the size of the dogs and accessories I'm going to be using which I'll talk about later in the video. With all 7 drills holed in the first row, I can then put my awl in the first hole, and this is why it was important to match the drill bit size to the thickness of my awl, and I can pivot the jig around until the edges are again flush with the edges of the table. Being smooth one side also meant the bottom was exposed, and everywhere there was a knot, a potential void formed. Now designed to fit Festool drawers if required and 4x 240 socket holes should you wish to wire them up. The trim was looking pretty good, but in a few areas it wasn't quite flush with the MDF so I used a block plane to level it.

We recommend workbench clamps, toggle clamps for workbenches or bench dogs, which are used as a stop for the workpiece. When I use the router after drilling the holes, I make sure I use a fixed base - hand position is usually closer to the workpiece so less chance of 'rocking' the bit.Parf II is not cheap but it's easy and very accurate provided you follow the instructions and take care. The upfront investment is not trivial but once you have the jig you can use it to make as many MFT style tops as you want. If you have not already done so, then use the GRS, TS55, and rail to cut the new top to final dimensions of 718 mm by 1102 mm. Note: this does not come with the corner fixing holes as many of our clients use them without the festool table. Next I offered up my steel ruler flush with the end of the jig, and I made knife marks on that centre line every 100mm, again making sure to get it as accurate as possible.

In all, it probably took me 5 or 6 hours to drill the entire top, not including the time it took to prepare, paint, and poly the piece. If you’re not familiar with the LR 32 system – what it does, is allow you to (in conjunction with a Festool router, drill precise holes at multiples of 32mm).Some top protectors which will I can install so to create an air gap between the blade of my track saw and the table top so that I don't cut through it. com, the Sell on Etsy app, and the Etsy app, as well as the electricity that powers Etsy’s global offices and employees working remotely from home in the US. Not only is this drilling jig giving me accurate placement for the holes, but because it was drilled at the pillar drill it's also ensuring that my drill bit is drilling the hole nice and plum because the holes in the jig were drilled at the drill press. Moisture moves one way in and one way out, with minimal to no bilateral movement within the materials highly dense core. I can then secure it in place making sure to use a screw long enough to grab hold of the MDF top but not so long that it would pierce the top surface.
