Mia has taught us how to deal with adversity, to give generously to those in need, to inspire people to be the best versions of themselves, not to take tomorrow for granted, to live life to the full, but most importantly, how to be a nice person. THE RELIEF OF THOSE IN NEED, BY REASON OF YOUTH, AGE, ILL-HEALTH, DISABILITY, FINANCIAL HARDSHIP OR OTHER DISADVANTAGE. In her words Mia has said, “I am excited about this”, “Becoming an Ambassador for A Stroke of Luck beats any achievement”.

Heartbreakingly, Mia passed away on Wednesday, June 26 - just two days before she was named Merseyside's Woman of the Year. This is a recognition for all of her charity work, campaigning, writing a book and being a role model for thousands of people thank you for every single person who voted for her you have no idea how much it would of meant to her to know she had won we just wish she had of been there to see it. During her time on the sidelines, Austin was able to tap into the knowledge of the experienced Carlton forward line, with Jess Dal Pos, Brea Moody, Phoebe McWilliams and Darcy Vescio being the sounding boards for the 19-year-old. The hearing was told Mia had been fit and healthy before suffering her stroke and had subsequently learned to communicate through a spell chart and a computer. We use your sign-up to provide content in ways you’ve consented to and improve our understanding of you. She had become well known in the region for her charity work after suffering the stroke a decade ago. Even though he said he only used fresh pasta in the Diner, she talked him into having coffee with her anyway.

This caused a blockage in her airway and, as she was unable to bring it up, it caused asphyxiation,” said the coroner Dewi Pritchard. She [Polatajko] has been awesome, I’ve really loved having her and I loved that it's such a family mentality in the forward line too," Austin said. Austin has worked with Polatajko to utilise 'her weapons' but also to lean on her teammates up forward to support, which she has seen as a major benefit to her game as a whole. Despite having this life-changing condition, Mia refused to give up and focused on living her life to the fullest, while also helping others. I feel like in that time I wanted to work on things I probably wasn’t as good at, like ground-level work and being better at that. The hearing was told Mia's carer offered to cut the sweet before placing it in her mouth but Mia shook her head to say "no".
