It might not come with any extras and, of course, it’s less capacious than a full-sized steriliser (see our round-up of the best sterilisers) – but for all that the Milton Solo is surprisingly flexible, roomy and designed with a number of useful features, which elevated it well above the other travel models we tested, like the Tommee Tippee 2-in-1 and the ClevaMama Soother Tree.

My one complaint was about the Milton sterilising tablets that come with it, as they left a chemical residue on the bottle. If the item comes direct from a manufacturer, it may be delivered in non-retail packaging, such as a plain or unprinted box or plastic bag. Not seen in leak yet (only had it for a week) and only used it in conjuction with a microwave with microwave safe items. A 2in1 microwave or cold water Single bottle Steriliser, ideal for travel, overnight stays or when you’re away from home.

It has dual purpose functionality, sterilising not only bottles but teething toys, pacifiers and other small bits – in the microwave or with cold water and a tablet.

Because travel sterilisers need to be compact enough to carry around, they’re usually short on bells and whistles. The Sterilising Unit has a lockable lid to help keep the items safe, and a carry handle for when mum or dad wants to move it around the kitchen, or take it out of home. I could have really used the travel steriliser right then, and not wanting to be caught out like that again it was a no brainer.

The only one thing I would change about this product is maybe the lid as there has sometimes been some leakage. Before using the Unit for the first time make sure you read the safety leaflet contained in the unit and wash all parts of the Unit with warm soapy water and rinse with cold water. No need to rinse the baby bottles or other items that are sterilised, you can use them straight away. However, it is worth remembering that the product is intended as a ‘solo steriliser’, presumably to save on space when travelling; there are other sterilisers on the market that would sterilise more than one bottle, if that’s your preference.

If it is only one baby bottle, as long as the cap is clean it needs to be put on to protect the sterilised teat. In summary, the Milton Solo Travel bottle sterilizer is a reliable and efficient accessory for sterilizing baby bottles.

It’s much easier to pack/carry than an electric steam steriliser or a large microwave steriliser (which you then have to ensure where you are going has a microwave! Milton Solo Microwave or Cold Water Travel Steriliser can be used as either a microwave or cold water single bottle steriliser, perfect for travelling. It fits only one bottle and teat (not the bottle cap) and requires a quarter of a Milton tablet for the sterilisation process, which is fine, except the tablets don’t snap along the lines (annoying! The Milton Solo Travel Steriliser helps you keep your little one’s toys, bottles and smaller items germ-free on the go.

The Milton Solo Travel Steriliser is a 2 in 1 product that allows for either cold water or microwaving sterilisation. The brand name is well-known and it's a well-built item that has not let us down even after being used so often. For me this product wasn't hugely useful because you can only sterilise one bottle at a time and I found it easier having several bottles ready. Milton Solo Steriliser takes only 2 minutes for microwave sterilisation or 15 minutes for cold water sterilisation. Instructions really easy to follow and you can also view the YouTube video as easy to see just how simple this is to use.
